Former Bafana Bafana and Crystal Palace player Kagisho Dikgacoi has urged followers to stop claiming his marriage to Carina McKechnie is over.

The couple tied the knot in 2016 in a traditional ceremony in Manzini, Swaziland, a lavish wedding in Sanction attended by A-listers such as Simphiwe Tshabalala, Mato Madlala, Cassper Nyovest and Major League DJz.

The pair got together when Dikgacoi was playing in England for Fulham, Crystal Palace and Cardiff City.

News of Dikgacoi's alleged separation landed on TshisaLIVE's desk as their social media followers commented that they “broke up”, as Carina can be seen living her life without her hard-tackling football player.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Dikgacoi, who's busy with his CAF coaching licence, said he blames his hectic schedule for not being part of his family abroad.

“My wife and I are still married, it's just an opportunity came through for her to work in England. She's a hard worker, and not a single day will pass without talking to her and our kids. I'm still adjusting to her absence at our home, and social media followers aren't making things easy. I'm violated by the remarks, but what can I say, what's in the social media is out of my control. My marriage is intact, from time to time I go to visit my family in England.”

He continued: “The rumours aren't new to me, but like I said I'm busy, and some people noticed that my wife has been missing in the picture, and they concluded that we're done as a couple.”

TshisaLIVE has reached out to Carina for comment. Any update will be included once received.
