Zahara's benefit concert halts as family faces 'many challenges'

The concert was expected to take place in East London later in April with a line-up including Zahara’s best friend Vusi Nova, Nathi Mankayi, Mawethu Dikiza, Lusanda Mbane and Khanyisa Nkantsu.

Zahara's sister Bandezwa Mkutukana-Febana told TshisaLIVE they had been struggling to secure a venue and funds to organise the event.

“It's not going to happen now. We can't get to the community hall and there have been so many challenges. Zahara fought for her house while she was still alive, throughout her career that's what she managed to hold on to. Also, to us, that was like home, that's why we wanted to keep it because it's got so many memories for us with her in it. It's part of her legacy, we do not really want to lose it.”

LootLove and Proverb to host Metro FM Music Awards 2024

As excitement builds before the Metro FM Music Awards 2024 (MMA24), Tebogo “Proverb” Thekisho and Luthando “LootLove” Shosha have been announced as the hosts of the ceremony.

The awards are to take place on April 27 at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga.

Moses Tembe speaks on the death of his daughter’s fiancé

Moses, father of the late Anele Tembe, says he has no ill feelings towards Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, contrary to popular belief.

Though social media users have speculatively linked Tembe's death to that of AKA, Moses said he and his family wanted AKA to speak in court on what transpired the day their daughter died.

Moses said he wouldn't be drawn on allegations that the rapper killed his daughter.

“Whatever people were saying later about him, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I loved Kiernan so much,” he told the SABC.

“I kept saying to my children, my parents and everyone affected by this, it's important to treat Kiernan as our own child so we can be objective as this process starts. I object to anyone who suggests Kiernan killed our daughter. I'm saying we need to lead evidence and the evidence will tell us exactly what happened.”

Forbes family react to upcoming book about AKA

Tony and Lynn Forbes have distanced themselves from an upcoming book about their late son.

“We are not in any way associated with Melinda Ferguson’s book and we do not endorse it. We distance ourselves from the contents of the book. When Melinda reached out to us we respectfully and rightfully declined to contribute to her book.

“We cannot give any further comment on the book as we are unaware of its contents. We do, however, find the intended publication of the book and the timing distasteful and opportunistic.”
