Eva Modika is looking to cement her name in the music scene.

The club hostess and reality TV star popular for her stint on Showmax's Diamond and Dolls, is gearing up to launch an EP after becoming a DJ.

“I've always wanted to be in the music industry. When I was in high school, I was in the choir. I love music. It speaks to your soul. I'm an afrotech DJ because that's the music I love,” she told TshisaLIVE.

After quitting as a club hostess after six years in the industry, Eva is ready to show the world she is more than just a pretty face.

“My journey as a club host started when I was 21, I was a waitress and a bar lady, that's when I started having contacts and knowing who's who in the industry. I upgraded to being a host. With that, I used that to build my parents a house, started my own makeup brand and now recently started DJing,”

“I feel like everyone is a host now so it was getting more competitive. It's not about hard work any more. When we were doing hosting, it was not about how you look, it was about the work. Now it has changed, it's about the amount of followers you have and how pretty you look. It's becoming very hard now, I'm getting old now — I'm 30. I just had to face reality.”

Eva also wears the hat of a business woman, running her own makeup store in the heart of Sandton. She said she has big plans for the business and hopes to get her products available at all retail stores.

“The only challenge we having right now is the shop is located in the corner so not many people know it, so we want the makeup to be accessible. We are going to collaborate with stores that are out there so that everyone can purchase the makeup.”
