Weeks after she released a joint statement with Love Island SA's Xavier Haupt announcing their breakup on social media, Nadia cleared the air on their split.

The couple, who met in Sea Point, Cape Town 18 months ago captured many people with their social media posts, making them one of Mzansi's favourite couple.

In a recent interview on Good Hope FM, Nadia shed light on what happened to their romance.

"I think the beautiful thing is that we are both still on very good terms. We both understand where we are in each other's journeys. It's still very fresh. I'd be lying if I said I'm completely fine. I'm keeping myself busy, sometimes it feels like kind of on auto pilot. But I do what I can to heal and not be toxic about it," she said.

"It was definitely a mutual decision, in the most respectful way. I don't have anything negative to say about Xavier. He is amazing. I will always love him."

The social media sensation said she was in a space where she was practicing more self-love.

In the joint statement the former couple shared, the two stars said they were still on good terms.

"We have come to a decision that perhaps it's best if we both embark on our individual journeys. We all learn and some of us return. We're deciding to trust the process whatever the outcome may be. We have no ill feelings towards each other and we will continue to support each other."
